WHERE THE EMISSIONS COME FROM?

The automobile industry brings convenience and prosperity of mankind since the 20th century. However, it also produces several series problems, and the exhaust emission is one of the biggest headaches recently.

No matter how advanced the engine is, every fuel-burning car produces exhaust emissions especially when it gets older. When the car’s engine burns fuel, it’s really performing a chemical reaction because the fuel and oxygen molecules break up and recombine to create H20 (water) and CO2 (carbon dioxide). However, nothing ever goes perfectly, and when the fuel does not burn completely, it wastes fuel and contributes to air pollution such as Carbon Monoxide (CO), Non-Methane Hydrocarbons (NMHC), Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), and build up as carbon deposits within the engine shortening engine life.

Fuel + O2 = CO2 +H2O + CO+ NOx + THC + other harmful emissions

WHAT CAUSES EXHAUST EMISSIONS?

So what causes cars to not burn fuel cleanly and produce dirty exhaust emission?  Often, it’s because the engine itself is dirty. Over time, carbon deposits can accumulate inside engines and cause improper combustion which produced more harmful emissions and carbon deposit in a terrible cycle.  Also, having the poor air quality or wrong fuel-air mixture is another common reason because fuel can’t burn cleanly unless it has the correct ratio of oxygen to combine with.

In fact, besides the engine system, one of the main reasons that case cars to not burn fuel cleanly is because the fuel has high energy contents of hydrocarbon molecule such as benzene. To burn the hydrocarbon molecule, it requires high temperature and reasonable time; therefore, most of the hydrocarbon molecule inside the molecule clusters don’t even have the chance to be mixed with oxygen before the combustion and turns to the harmful emissions!

HOW GREENTECH WORKS?
